1. Children's Congress
President: Markus
The Red Secretary: Peter
The Yellow Secretary: Ruri
Teachers: Guðrún B. and Patty
Half of the oldest group met. The meeting began by explaining to the children the purpose of the meeting: to talk about activities that take place at school. There can be outdoor games, during social time, during mealtimes or during sports when the children are in the Fífa.
The main roles of the meeting were introduced: The president is the child who leads the meeting, the one who gives the floor by pointing to a person and saying their name. The president also chooses the topic to be discussed. The yellow secretary is the child who counts the votes. Different methods can be used for this, by singing, counting with numbers or other. The red secretary is the child who keeps discipline and order in the meeting. He says stop, maintaining a polite and respectful posture as he asks for silence.
In the end, the children chose the first president, the yellow secretary and the red secretary. The meeting ended and the children went out to play. The president and the secretaries each got a hat according to the position they had been given: the president got the green one, the yellow secretary got the yellow and the red secretary the red hat.
Comment: It would be better to hold the meetings in Háholt. The children could perhaps sit there so that they had more control over themselves.
