This website contains an overview of teaching about children's rights in kindergartens. This lesson takes place once a week in groups of 6-7 children aged 4-6 years.

 

The lesson's purpose is to implement the part of the main preschool curriculum, which relates to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, for 3-4-year-old preschoolers. According to the curriculum, teachers must encourage the children to be active and active and learn about the rights and values that society is based on.

 

Iceland, like many other countries that have signed the Convention on the Rights of the Child, is obliged to abide by it and inform children about their rights. (child: a person under the age of 18).

​The basis of teaching is respect,

care, participation and autonomy and to

these values help the children to form them

behaviour that motivates and prepares them to

participate in a democratic society.
